One & Only

Camera, lights, action! Glamour, sassy, chic, and cocktails!

Many young people dream of that mansion, convertible cars and good hot partner to share it all with. Well I have to say as a young man, an up and coming publicist. I never really thought that i could pull it off. I decided to throw a cocktail party to celebrate my birthday at One & Only Hotel at the Waterfront. I only dreamt of a small thing but the turnout was remarkable. When people heard i was having a party at the One &; Only Hotel, they thought OMG that means we have to go all out and buy all these expensive clothes and man they all looked great.

If i can get people to go shopping and buy all those brands just for my birthday, think about all the birthdays coming up. It only boils to Big, Glamour, and Fabulosity in the years to come. It all depends on what i decide to do with myself in the future, do i put myself out there and become the next top publicist and definitely not going the Khanyi Mbau route or maybe i will. But i promise you i will do whatever ko se mandleni (in my power).

Anyhow without deviating away from the topic! One &; Only Hotel. Anyhow so the party started at 7:30pm. Right from the start it was such a ball, as i have mentioned people came rocking their Jimmy Choo and Valentino just to name a few. Oh just so you i had my pants from Mr Price, but i still looked good.
When it came to cocktails and nibbles, am i that awesome to have olives, bread sticks and some that i cannot pronounce  and top of the class cocktails for my friends. You know how some places can be greedy with alcohol, well of all places i’ve been in Cape Town, Vista Bar knows how to make the best cocktails and because they are so great, you keep on asking for more.

So i would like to give thanks to all my friends more especially to start with Keshia, Mpingana, and Raymond for taking me out for Lunch and Maneh for joining us that afternoon for 2 for 1 cocktails. For Princess for landing us her stove and private space, and last but not least Seth and Dennis, if i could i would name you all. But just know you guys hold a special place in my heart.

The view at night is amazing!

I had to see it myself!

City lights
When i was approached by my fellow amazing friends to go hiking on the lions head, i was a bit sceptical but ended up going. I was only told the after while cruizing around Cape Town that we are going hiking! Anyhow we went up there, it took us approximately 45min to get up there. I am not the hiking type but this time i just had to go, simply because its in the top 100 things to do in Cape Town.

Trig beacon
You know what they say about Cape Town is such a small world, i was shocked to see how many people i knew along the way up. Anyhow so as we went up the mountain i couldn't wait to get there. Now the fun part was when i had to climb up using a chain, one mistake i'm done. Some heavy lifting was made along, i hated it but i survived the climbing.
The other thing i noticed was how when you looking up the mountain it seems really far but i tell you it is worth it. If ever you in CT and you want to do something challenging just go hiking. I know it does not seem so exciting and challenging but it is!
admiring the view
The narrow paths, man i hated them because then at most time i had to let the first person in only to find out that there are 12 more people coming down on the same route. I just had to be patient because i was nearly there. So we get up there and the view was so amazing. i like it how you have all views, from Camps bay, Sea Point, City to Table Mountain. so we setup our little spot, took loads of pictures. 8pm hit we were still up there and by then everyone had left. Nevermind us we were enjoying the quietness and view more especially at night. Time came for us to go back down, smart we only had one touch and cell phones. There is 5 of us. Four out voted the one and we had to spend the night on the mountain.

Posing
It was not fun at all, i was cold and uncomfortable. We found and rock and slept underneath it, i could not sleep at all. I was up all night and the next thing i knew it was 3.45am and i could not take it anymore, so we all head down. Thank God there was a full moon out at that time. So we went down and when we got down there was a sign that said NO CAMPING. how funny was that? So yes, hiking was fun and the not prepared for camping was not. other than that it was great!

about to head up

HQ is for Head Quaters

So we decided that come Friday we are all going to HQ in town. We all dressed up and headed straight; damn did we all look great or what! I must say I was pretty shocked when I arrived to see that there has been couple of changes made. The vibe is different to what it used to be. Not so though. This time HQ has decided to add a live collaboration between drums and music. I like the idea. I can definitely say HQ is a place for people who like clandestine shindig. This place attracts people of high rank, diffidence and self control. I was pretty shocked to see the kind of outfits, gents in their D&G Jackets, Paul Smith shirts, Ladies in their stilettos with a touch of red underneath. You know it is the real thing if it’s Red underneath.

I also came across a guy wearing what it looked like Dsquared2 pants, just wasn’t sure but they sure did give the impression of being Dsquared2. I could be wrong. What I’m trying to say is the likes of people who visit HQ are working class, business minded fellows, Fashion beauties and Fashion gurus. I liked the place apart from bumpy-bumpy situation we encountered. There is a peak time, when everyone decides to go on the dance floor and there is time when people are sitting down enjoying the glasses of wine.

Karabo & Keshia
The music is astounding, people have respect for strangers, and no smoking allowed inside which is great. If you want a night out with your work mates look no further than HQ among the list of my favourite places in Cape Town. It is funny how every where you want to go in town, it is swamped with students dancing and throwing themselves all over the places. HQ is for decent people, who know when they’ve had enough to drink. I am not generalising, don’t get me wrong. Talking from experience.

So before I walked in, I decided to wait for my friends coming from the car. I waited at the main entrance next to the boom when some guy pulled over and asked me if there was still parking space left... Hello do I look like I work here. Other than that I had fun, you should try it out. The one thing I walked away was I met so many people I have never met in my entire time out at social event.

FREEWAY FOOTBALL

FREEWAY TALKS FOOTBALL

It was long day after work, driving back with Mr. Colin Habberton, my previous boss and Christian brother. I remember how the idea of Freeway Football came about. While i was enjoying the sun set, Mr. H as i would call him had his mind on other things. Colin drives on the N2 everytime he goes to Stellenbosch and out of that the idea of Freeway Football was developed.

Driving on the N2 are so many young boys playing soccer, despite the danger from the high way. These kids seem determined and all they want to do is play soccer. Some teams have real soccer balls and some have put together a bunch of plastics and tied them together with a string. I was really touched to see that many of them did not have the proper soccer boots. Instead of many young people out there who just sit or do crime because they have no resources as it turns out to be the reason for most of them, these young stars have put in everything to keep away from drugs and all bad things.

Freeway Football has helped many young people and many more to come. From young professional photographers and soccer players all from Khayelitsha the biggest township in South Africa. Freeway Football aims at providing young proffessional photographers with the resources and drive them to start their own businesses in the community. Among those who have been discovered by Freeway Football Development, is Simphiwe. Through Freeway Football Simphiwe got training, mentorship and sponsorship of camera equipments from Nikon. His work can be rated among the best photography collections in the world. His works has and will teach many that Soccer is a language spoken by the whole world.

Freeway Football is a great project and many are to be discovered. Its amazing how a thought can become a living thing. Put your mind to it and you will reach it. I give it to Mr. H, Justin, Lonwabo, Damon, Morgan and Liam. What an awesome venture.

VANILLA...THE SWEETEST ESSENCE

What a sweet essence

I like it how we all have rights to choose a restaurant and call it our favourite. I have a set of restaurants and among those is Vanilla Restaurant. I love this place because mainly it is very sophisticated. It has a Manhattan influence and has a truly invigorating sense of liberty, from cocktail menu, wine menu, to lunch and dinner menu. The glittering and the orchid’s makes you feel like a royal member, everything shines.

So for a mouth watering three course meals i always go for:

MUSSELS

Steamed fresh Saldanha Bay mussels poached with white wine, cream and garlic

 PORK BELLY

Served on a bed of savoy cabbage and bacon mash, drizzled with and onion and chili sauce and garnished with crispy crackling

TASTING OF VANILLA

Berry and champagne jelly with ice cream swiss roll and free standing creme brulee

OR

Choose from a variety of Sushi.

It is not all restaurants that chefs come out to patrons to find out about their meals. So Evan the head chef at Vanilla this guy knows his job, i never worry about any disappointments. I mean the guy used to work at Riboville and we all know that Riboville was one of the most amazing restaurants in Cape Town. So i guess i could say i followed him from there. For a more relaxed afternoon, please get a seat outside, man! The atmosphere is so liberating, with that sound of Piano. Guys go try it out.

Was so white, felt like Heaven

Seth & I

What if you got enough of the city lifestyle, having to do one thing over and over every weekend? Perhaps you just want to go somewhere where there is no traffic. Going to the beach, waterfront or movies just doesn’t seem enough to you. Where do you go? Many people want to go away but cannot because, they are lazy to drive or do not want to travel far, they just want to break away from the city noise for couple of days. Well look no further than west of the Cape Town towards Saldahna Steel mines, for just an hour drive you can find yourself in one of the most relaxing and free spirited fishermen town called Paternoster. This town offers different activities from the breath taking views of the ocean from holiday houses, built from the French romantic influence to the sound of sea birds in the morning and what more could you ask for than a better view of the sunrise.

Paternoster fits perfectly as a home away from home; it is enriched with happy people, unlike many holiday towns, Paternoster is a town of tranquillity.

If you have love for fish, Paternoster has the most amazing fish range to come across around the coastal areas. It has restaurants that not only do they offer mouth-watering sea food dishes but also their menu includes red and white meat. The Food prepared at restaurants are meals to die for and replicate a true sense of fishermen town. A pink bottle to sip while you wish for the sun not to set highlights the moment.

Paternoster which simply means “Our father” is a town that is filled with fishermen who wake up before the sun rise to take their fishing boats around the rock of redemption before they sail out to catch the best fish for your convenience, there is nothing more liberating than a fresh tasty fishy meal prepared just for you and your family. If you are more of a stay home family you can simply buy a just caught crayfish from the fish market and prepare a special meal for your family and friends.

Paternoster is a town of joy, people from this small fishermen town painted white are a one big family and always happy to receive guests, their smile, waving as you they pass by and the world’s no.1 services offered at restaurants makes you feel like at home. For a more relaxing afternoon one can take a walk along the beach and tilt some stones for fun, pose for pictures, or pick up shells to remember your stay there, that when you look at them, you just want to go back.

I am my own character!

So

Hectic nine 9 is looking for a new presenter and i have decided to go audition, but because i knew the judges it was really not easy in terms of focus. So i walked in and started laughing. So instead i have been invited to go visit eTV studios. It will be much easier for me to audition in front of a total stranger, not the people you hang out with. Totally out of the question. So i left and went for a short film casting and it went great. So hopefully i got the part.

That was my day.
